THE ABOLISH ISA VIGILS: WHAT BRINGS THEM BACK?
Honestly, what brings them back, week after week?
This question, it seems, can be asked to both the public, and the police.
Every week, people still seem to be going back to attend the vigil demanding that the ISA be abolished. What goes on, perhaps those who attend such vigils can tell these stories. And there are plenty out there who do.
But every week, the police come to ask these people to disperse. Every week, that is, since November 10th last year.

I LEFT A LONG COMMENT ON HER BLOG, THEN DECIDED I OUGHT TO RECYCLE IT AS A BLOGPOST. SO HERE IT IS...

Well, this guy (whom I prefer to call the Potatohead Gestapoman for obvious reasons) has taken the rakyat's defiance as a personal insult - especially since his ill-advised attempt to do a Mahathir and nab three people under the ISA on 12 September 2008. His heavy-handed move backfired, as to be expected. Instead of cowering in fear the rakyat let out a deafening roar of outrage while the whole world shook its head sadly or sniggered, seeing Malaysia's international standing go down the chute so tragically.
Potatohead had been instructed by the Umno Supreme Council to silence Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK), and his botched attempt to block Malaysia Today yielded only a harvest of hysterical giggles from around the blogosphere. So he signed an order to detain RPK for two years.

With RPK walking free and leading the rakyat's call to abolish once and for all the repugnant ISA, these weekly candlelight vigils took on an almost religious aura as churches, temples, and folksingers were galvanized into hosting these community events where kindred spirits could meet and network, creating robust, organic interfaces between the virtual and actual world.

Everybody except Umno knows the Ketuanan Melayu party is on its last legs. The only weapon it has left is its control of the Polis Di Raja Malaysia and Petronas. The Hindraf protest of 25 November 2007 has shown that teargas and watercannons are a sheer waste of money (didn't stop people from marching by the thousands) and they make the police look really bad. In fact EVERYTHING they do - or don't do - makes the police look bad.

The only thing that can improve their image is if all the uncorrupt officers staged an overnight coup and arrested all their senior officers who have been accepting bribes from criminal syndicates and who were promoted mainly because they performed dirty tricks and broke the law on behalf of Dr M.

That, my dear, just about sums it up. Burrrp.

*Syed Jaafar Albar was named by Tunku Abdul Rahman as one of the key conspirators behind the gory May 13 coup d'etat.
Antares! That wasn't a comment, that was a thesis! :p But like always, I agree with you.
ReplyDeleteHaha..I kind of expected a long one from you Antares. And it's easy to get your drift. =)
ReplyDeleteI like your answer.
Chief,is botoxed Killed Toyol (FKA Khir Toyo ) also a first generation Javanese in Malaysia ?
ReplyDeleteAntares! You ought to run a course-Malaysian Histrionics 101 :)
ReplyDeleteI hope that those who mistakenly feel threatened by candle light may have second thoughts, less they come across as puerile & vindictive individuals who are just throwing a tantrum because of PAS’s well deserved victory in KT.
Well, didn't the KT victory just rubbed in the already dented ego?
ReplyDeleteWhat a big joke that the humble and down-to-earth BR team of bloggers and supporters did a better job than the 3Ms BN deployed! They just have to do something to flex their muscles, as a face-saving and desperate measure to show that there are the powers in control!
They are so dumb to repeat their mistake of harassing the rakyat.
Didn't the BN public relations people tell them that it is a NO-NO? That it is bad PR?
Let them continue to dig their grave deeper each week. That will keep up the momentum of the rakyat's determination to send them to Timbuktu!
My thots exactly ;D
ReplyDeleteSpot on bro. I see the parallels between Nazi fascism and what's happening here.
ReplyDelete"do a Mahathir"
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love this. Hopefully, we have more using this phrase.
The other, "potatohead Gestapoman" - picture perfect!
We note with consternation & exasperation that here in Malaysia , a Minister can actually do what he pleases ( presumably with powerful unseen hands supporting , like the Mafia), and the helpless Rakyat vitually powerless to do anything other than holding candles with pot lucks then loudly talking about it !
ReplyDeleteIt does appear then that we in Malaysia is not governed by a so-called Rule of Law ( as befit a modern civilised country of the 21st Century ), or in other words we are lawless. Are we right to say that ?
Naga - Thanks for being such an agreeable chap! :-)
ReplyDeleteMichelle - You make a such wonderful Muse, thanks. Coming home to usher in the Ox Year? If so, do buzz me & we can clink glasses & hurl cowpats at big bullies, OK?
Fair - You're right! I suspect that Kok-beating Khir is another red IC holder but he was issued a blue one when he joined the Blue Ninnies.
Candlenut - Histrionics? Well, that comes from my theatre background. Better histrionics than hysterics, no?
Peng - Sending BN to Timbuktu would be more reward than punishment. Mali is where the 12-bar blues was born - and the wimmen there are HOT HOT HOT! Actually, keeping those puffed-up egos quarantined in soulless Putrajaya is the worst fate that could possibly befall them. The federal capital will then shift back to KL where it belongs.
Erniejean - Nice to see you here!
Bangmalaysia - What we call Nazi or fascist is just an imprecise way of saying "inhuman."
Anon @ 10:28 - notice how our last two PMs have names that can easily be turned into verbs? You so notty one I mahathir you den you know! OR Dey! Don let dose lazy buggers badawi your plan, OK?
BSG - Too many laws in Malaysia for us to call ourselves "lawless." Remember, the more laws, the less justice! When all the laws are reduced to ONE, i.e., "Do unto others as you would be done by," then you will see REAL justice prevail on this planet. Meanwhile, these descendants of pirates cling on to their privileges - and what "privilege" means in Latin is "private laws." In short, there are laws for the public and laws for me and my bedpartners.
Com'on we are the masters of the land we are only doing what we are supposed to do. Please show your respect you lousy pendatangs.
ReplyDeleteAD
Bro, the most frightening thing about all these is the "interview" which Malaysiakini (I think) had with some of the pro-ISA demonstrators at the Bar Council building recently. Apparently, ISA is now "hak Melayu", ie part of the Malay rights, which of course, is an extension of Ketuanan Melayu.
ReplyDeleteIf we go back to the Melakan Sultanate, we would of course see the Melaka Sultan punishing people without trial. And so, I suppose, ISA, which provides detention without trial, could be argued as a part of Malay rights.
Brrr...***shuddering***
Wishing you a very happy new (lunar) year Bro.
You just spoilt my lunch ...thanks my soul Bro ...
ReplyDeleteIf you don't come down hard on these people, they will soon cause more problems than it is.
ReplyDeleteNowadays candles r considered dangerous cos someone might get WAXED if u r not careful.s 4 harmony i will definitely come down hard on you .looking fwd to c u at magickriver.antares is yr e mail add still active.send u couple of mails but no reply.from mike.
ReplyDeleteThis is an important announcement from the wig in state for all state assemblymen. From now on, there is a blanket prohibition for all members of parliament from BN on dying. That's right, it is now immoral and illegal for any sitting member of government to die. Anyone a hair's breath away from expiring should refrain from doing so.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who has already expired will be severely disciplined by the party whip. Remember, the opposition cannot win if we're still alive.
Thank you and have a nice day.
[The above is a direct result from BN losing KT. It's true, these politicians really are more valuable dead than alive].
Hahahaha!
ReplyDelete"...becoming a rabid jingoist..."
"...to do a Mahathir..."
"...They imagine people are celebrating the death of Ketuanan Melayu..."
Hahaha! still laughing. Thanks Antares. Needed the laugh.
Good one.
cheers
Anon @ 12:43PM - "Masters of the Land"? One of these days Mother Earth will get so bored & weary with your testosterone-overdriven dimness & denseness she'll just yawn & swallow you up... hope it doesn't give her stomach upset! My friend, it appears you have completely misunderstood the meaning of the word M-A-S-T-E-R.
ReplyDeleteIgnorant fools think a "Master" can boss others around & is entitled to as many slaves as he wants. The wise know that the only REAL MASTERS are those who have mastered their own ego vanity & can see the beauty, divinity & cherish the value in all other lifeforms without judgment or prejudice.
Art - The fella who left a comment just before yours is a shining example of the kind of benighted soul you're shuddering about. Overabundance of primate DNA - nothing to worry about. Easily trapped by their greed & inability to let go of the cookies inside the coconut!
Knights - You could easily lose an inch around the waist, bro. Looks sexier when you're revving up that monster bike.
Harmony - Are you in favor of the cops intimidating & arresting ISA protestors? Are you saying WE are "causing problems"? Don't get you! What planet you from? Singapore ah?
Mike - Not quite sure which "Mike" you happen to be but my current email addy is magickriver(at)gmail(dot)com. Try again.
Gerald - The planetary & stellar alignments are in favor of radical transformations across the board. Let's stop "struggling" & paddling upstream... get with the wu-wei!
Dr S - Glad you agree laughter's the best antidote to Terminal Umnophobia.
Hi, Antares. It's me Dennis from NST.
ReplyDeleteNice one on Mr. Albar.
But I'd like to say that Albar senior was Singaporean, not Indonesian.
He was a Javanese-Arab Singaporean, not unlike the late, great Professor Syed Hussein Alatas.
Khir Toyo's dad was Javanese, born in Java, but not in the Republic of Indonesia.
Java was then part of the Dutch East Indies, what Sultan Hussein Shah I of Johor sold to the House of Orange in 1824 to rid the mainland portion of his vast empire of Orange rule.
Raja Petra brilliantly wrote that the Johor empire fell under the Dutch yolk after the battle of Teluk Ketapang in Melaka in 1784, when Orange defeated the Tigers.
The arrival of the British in 1824 gave rise to the London Treaty whereby Holland was apportioned all of present-day Indonesia by British-backed Sultan Hussein.
The mainland was to be independent, until such time the British deemed fit to make Johor a 'protectorate'.
Johor gave Singapore to Britain, as payment for helping them kick Holland out of the mainland.
Had Holland not given up the mainland we'd all be Indonesian Chinese, Indonesian Indians and Indonesian Bumiputeras.
Dennis - Hey, thanks for leaving your comment & making me look up Syed Jaafar Albar in Wikipedia! I quote the folowing: "[Syed Jaafar Albar] accused Lee [Kuan Yew] and some other Chinese Malaysians — referring to them as kaum pendatang or pendatang asing (immigrants) — of being lodgers (orang tumpangan), abusing the hospitality of the Malays who were the "masters of the house". This provoked a response from Cabinet member Lim Swee Aun, who insisted "we are co-owners, not lodgers, not guests."
ReplyDeleteLee took a swipe at his politics by arguing "According to history, Malays began to migrate to Malaysia in noticeable numbers only about 700 years ago. Of the 39% Malays in Malaysia today, about one-third are comparatively new immigrants like the secretary-general of UMNO, Dato' Syed Jaafar Albar, who came to Malaya from Indonesia just before the war at the age of more than thirty. Therefore it is wrong and illogical for a particular racial group to think that they are more justified to be called Malaysians and that the others can become Malaysian only through their favour."
Methinks you're not wrong in thinking that the Fuckwit Father of Potatohead Gestapoman was a Singaporean. He could have made Singapore a stepping stone before infecting the Peninsula with his syphilitic racial politics.
