Some funky indie music videos for your weekend viewing (repost)...
That Effing Show Crew (Malaysia)
Swami Baracus (UK)
Ze! (Malaysia)
Bettina D'Mello (Germany)
Airport Radio (Indonesia)
Up Dharma Down (The Philippines)
Thanks to digital tech and YouTube, indie bands the world over (including Malaysia) can now create funky music videos on hardly any budget and still reach a global audience. I found these well crafted music videos produced by the MTV generation invigorating and very watchable. You're doing a great job of claiming your planet, all of you!
[Cheers, Free Malaysia Today, for alerting me to these cool vids! First posted 8 June 2012, reposted 17 April 2015]

Another Side of Psy ~ Oxford Union Style!
I doubt if there's anybody who's connected to the internet who hasn't only heard of a 35-year-old South Korean pop sensation named Psy, but has watched his viral "Oppa Gangnam Style" video at least twice.
Psy's is a classic success story of a talented composer-performer who made it BIG through patience, perseverance, perspicacity, and sheer good luck. He literally struck the pop phenomenon jackpot with just one YouTube hit. But here's a whole different perspective on Psy the human being whose wry sense of humor and candor makes him a winner in every sense - and not just as a one-trick pony.
It's impossible not to admire and like this chubby guy in a suit and funky shades. He's a smart cookie and has really put Korean pop on the world charts, pretty much the same way Peter Jackson singlehandedly upgraded New Zealand's status as filmmaking hub with his epic Lord of the Ring movies.

Nothing like some good music to blow away bad politics...
Last month I invested in an affordable new Divoom digital sound system (designed in Singapore, manufactured in China) that packs more punchy bass than anyone would expect. It's been very therapeutic, to say the least. After reading two or three local news items, I tend to get so pissed off or depressed, the only remedy is to put on some high-energy mp3s downloaded from YouTube via this nifty free website. It only takes a jiffy... and now my music archive has expanded extensively. Just sharing some of my medicine with anyone who might need it... put on your headphones or wait till the neighbors are out!
Thank you, YouTube, for making so much good stuff available to so many. You certainly do humanity much greater service than any government I can think of!
