I had the great good fortune to catch Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention in concert at the Fillmore East, New York, in the summer of 1968. It was the only "rock concert" I attended during my year in the U.S. as an exchange student - but it totally changed my life.
Perhaps listening to Zappa today will have the same effect on those of you who haven't yet been introduced to this wizardly maestro, whose extraordinary music lives on through his enormously talented son, Dweezil.

Frank Zappa was a man of many talents and his music carried his philosophy in life - live free, live free, live free, never live on your knees. i never met him and i have never had the privilege of going to one of his live concerts, but I mourn the loss of this strange and beautiful man and his music. I hope that his son makes his own special brand of music too to also lift us above and help us to laugh at life's mundane realities and pettiness. Remember: Don't eat that yellow snow!
