Former Selangor Chief Minister Mohd Khir Toyo has been criticized for overlooking Zakaria's "mistake" and not taking any action against the errant assemblyman who was a close personal friend. Zakaria subsequently resigned from public office after he was taken to task by the Sultan of Selangor. The former assemblyman reportedly died of a heart attack in his home on 11 March 2008 at about 1:30 a.m., soon after Malaysia's historic 12th General Elections on 8 March 2008 which saw Selangor wrested from UMNO control, along with Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, Perak, and the Federal Territory. Some say Zakaria Mat Deros actually hanged himself. Rumors persist, however, that Zakaria Mat Deros actually died in a conference room in the PWTC shortly after the election results were tabulated and it was learnt that Selangor had fallen into Opposition hands. According to well-informed sources, Zakaria was summoned to an emergency meeting by then deputy prime minister Najib Razak who instructed him to get his henchmen to start a racial fracas in Klang. Zakaria, already under extreme pressure because he was blamed for the loss of Selangor, got into a violent argument with Najib and collapsed. [Adapted from the Wikipedia entry on Mohd Khir bin Toyo]
SEEMS LIKE I WAS TAKEN IN BY ANOTHER EMAIL HOAX! APPARENTLY THESE IMAGES ARE NOT FROM 'ISTANA ZAKARIA' AFTER ALL BUT RATHER THAN DELETE THIS POST, I SHALL RETAIN IT WITH THIS DISCLAIMER: THE LATE UMNO WARLORD DID BUILD HIMSELF AN RM8-MILLION 16-ROOM PALACE... NOT QUITE AS "TASTEFUL" AS THE ONE SHOWN HERE BUT JUST AS OSTENTATIOUS. MY SINCERE THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO SET ME RIGHT WITH THEIR COMMENTS.

Hi Antares
ReplyDeleteI have my doubts about this being THE palace; it looks different from the one we saw in the papers. Moreover althought opulent, imho the interior is tastefully done.
Maybe its palace no 2 which we are not aware of?
correction
ReplyDeleteits 'although'
You may well be right, KKB Boy... I was rather astonished at the aesthetic effect whoever designed the palace managed to achieve - several notches above the usual plastic chrysanthemums and fake grapevines. But why would anyone bother circulating fake photos of 'Istana Zakaria'? I'll delete this post if someone who's been there can confirm that these photos aren't 'kosher.'
ReplyDeleteAlahai kenapalah ada fireplace?... Maybe KKB Boy is on to something - might be a suspicious source? :-/
ReplyDeletehello Antares that is not zakaria's the new residant of hell's deep (helm's deep of lord of the rings)as I was one of the sub con for electricity, this is somewhere else and notthe moron's house, recently went to collect some back payments for the palace and the family is trying to snake out of making payments, well here a news flash for them the property will be attached if they don't pay-up, another thing who said he died from heart attack, he commited suicide was informed by very close family member, the govt, really panicked, coverup done by toyol
ReplyDeleteanonymous says..
ReplyDelete' he commited suicide was informed by very close family member, the govt, really panicked, coverup done by toyol'
Now this is getting interesting. How about an autopsy? If its not heart attack, Toyol will be next to die of 'heart attack'
Antares,
ReplyDeleteThese pictures surfaced first in zorro's blog at this link
http://zorro-zorro-unmasked.blogspot.com/2008/03/desperately-yelling-for-my-auctioneer.html
the comments given says it's not zakaria deros's place in Klang, check it out.
So you might have correct your entry.
THANKS FOR ALERTING ME TO THE FACT THAT THESE PICTURES ARE NOT AUTHENTIC. ANONYMOUS FRIEND WHO HASN'T BEEN PAID FOR ELECTRICAL WORK DONE, DO YOU HAVE ANY PHOTOS OF ZAKARIA'S PALACE? I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM :-)
ReplyDeleteSo why don't you just remove the post? Is this some kind of blogger's honor code, to honestly show what a gullible fool you are for believing what other gullible fools tell you?
ReplyDeleteThis is in response to the last Anonymous comment (getting a bit weary of this person who says whatever he or she likes without accepting credit or debit): first of all, the pictures illustrate a "lifestyle" that has led many a soul to ruin. It's an attempt to acquire the trappings of royalty without attaining the molecular integrity and soulular nobility that true royalty signifies. So whether the palace shown here was built by Mat Deros or Mat Taib or Mat Salleh is irrelevant - it reveals the core of what has corrupted Umno whose leaders seem to all aspire towards usurping the lifestyle of their own Rajas and Sultans - and for that one needs an unlimited supply of money. I'm not embarrassed that I did believe for a moment that these photos were indeed taken in Klang (I was dumbstruck) but what puzzled me more was why anybody would bother perpetrating such a meaninglesss hoax in the first place. Nevertheless, receiving these photos inspired me to post a sardonic tribute to a recently deceased Umno warlord who surely will long be remembered as something no parent would ever want his or her child to emulate. Yes, it's my way of putting defler's head on a stake for all to see, if you wish to find fault with my intentions. Two days after GE12 I was alerted to the death of Mat Deros when I heard a guy chuckling loudly and pointing to a news item in Metro or Berita Harian. He showed me the headline announcing Mat Deros's demise and seemed totally amused by the news. Now this was a middle-aged Malay guy whose parents are probably Umno stalwarts but I'm pretty sure he voted KeADILan. So you may call me a gullible fool who got taken in for about an hour by these photos circulating on the Internet. But what about an entire race that was taken in by Umno for nearly 40 years? Or, for that, matter, what do you think of a species that has been fooled by a cabal of evil priests and politicians for several hundred thousand years?
ReplyDeleteWell said, Antares! I think your disclaimer is perfectly alright. So what if those are not pictures of the real Istana Zakaria? He still built an illegal istana at the expense of the community.
ReplyDeleteAnd to the poor contractor dude who hasn't been paid: hope you get your dues soon!
Actually, I'm not sure if The Star got it right either?
