I recall hearing reports that he was the sponsor of '50 reasons why Anwar cannot be PM' - printed & distributed by Rahim Thamby Chik. As finance minister Anwar was unhappy with Mahathir & Daim using Petronas & EPF money to bail out their own blue-eyed boys. Anwar agreed with the IMF recommendation that badly mismanaged companies be allowed to sink, leaving the well-managed ones (which would mean the end of Mokhzani & Mirzan Mahathir, Halim Saad, Tajuddin Rosli, Wan Azmi Wan Hamzah, et alia). That's the real reason Anwar had to be accused of bisexuality and crucified politically.
