THIS IS RPK'S TAKE ON THE WHOLE GRIM AND GROTESQUE AFFAIR...
The MACC has been a tool of those who walk in the corridors of power for a long, long time. Officially, Barisan Nasional has 14 component members with Umno as the lead partner. Unofficially, Barisan Nasional has seventeen component members. The Election Commission is the fifteenth component member of Barisan Nasional, the Malaysian police the sixteenth, and the MACC the seventeenth. They all serve the interests of Umno and the Prime Minister.
The writing was already on the wall very much earlier. Alarm bells were wailing like banshees. But this was largely ignored. It was ignored because it was Malaysia Today that had triggered the alarm bells. Malaysia Today is not the most reliable source. It does not offer the best of information. What Malaysia Today dabbles in are rumours and innuendoes.
“Where is the smoking gun?” they ask. “Show me the body!” they demand. No gun, no body, then no crime has been committed.

Well, today, there is a body. It is the body of a most unfortunate Chinese opposition member who was arrested and tortured by the MACC officers. Yes, he was tortured. And he was tortured because the MACC wanted him to talk.

[Shukri Abdull, MACC director of investigations, pictured at left (Malaysiakini)]
He tried to explain that he is not being stubborn. He tried to explain that no crime had been committed. He tried to explain that he could not possibly implicate his comrades in the opposition for various crimes if these crimes are merely a figment of the MACC’s imagination.
So they continued to torture him. And he could no longer stand the torture. After all, he is not the macho type of man. He is but a gentle man who only wanted to get married this weekend. That was all that he wanted.
They threatened to kill him if he refuses to talk. With tears running down his cheeks he begged for mercy and pleaded with them not to harm him. They threatened to throw him off the top floor if he refuses to talk. Sobbing like a baby he went down on his knees and begged for his life.
They dragged him across the room and opened the window. Then something went terribly wrong. It was supposed to be just a threat. They just wanted to put fear in him. They did not really want to throw him off the top floor. They just wanted him to see what the ground floor looks like from the top floor.
The unfortunate young man panicked. He went ballistic when he saw the distance he would have to travel before hitting the ground floor. He struggled. They could not hold onto him. Gravity took over and the life of this young man was prematurely snuffed out.
The MACC then announced that they had released him the night before. They failed to announce that they had not released him from custody but released him from this world. Then they suddenly found his body the day after. He jumped. He committed suicide. He took his own life. He was never tortured. He was not dragged to the window with the threat that they would teach him how to fly.
This has been going on for far too long. The MACC acts like God. They kidnap families and torture those they arrest. They threaten those they interrogate with death if they refuse to talk.

And now one young man has really died. But no one will be punished. No one will be punished because they will say the young man took his own life. Why he took his own life no one knows. He was never tortured. He was never threatened with death. He was not made to look how far down the ground floor is. He was not accidentally dropped when he panicked and struggled and they could not get a good grip on him.
That is what they will be telling you and me later today.

Classifying the death as "sudden death"?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the definition of "sudden death" - natural or unnatural causes, or semua beres ?
No wonder police stats looks good !
Antares,
ReplyDeleteShare this on your site for those who believe that Teoh Beng Hock should not die in vain.
http://en.liewchintong.com/?p=270
Candle Light Vigil
Date: 17th July (Friday)
Time: 9pm
Venue: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Building Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah
Please Wear in BLACK!
My sincere condolences to his family !
I just read this comment from a Malaysiakini reader named Tohkong Mosjid:
ReplyDeleteThe following is my open letter to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
Dear PM,
Just when I thought of giving you and BN the benefit of the doubt, MACC just spoilt it for you. I guess you are not going to be able to do anything to punish the people responsible for causing a witness' death because you don't have the political will to do so.
Just as your popularity ratings are soaring, Nazri just helped you to bring it down lower in no time with his trademark idiotic comments.
If you keep supporting all this kind of nonsense, can you please hand in your resignation as soon as possible to save us further heartbreaks. We are really tired of your rhetoric as we feel everything is so screwed up under your present leadership.
Some background of this whole situation;
ReplyDelete1) Teoh was picked up by MACC and it has been widely reported
2) Teoh was a WITNESS to a corruption case involving top DAP officials
Question;
1) Who benefits from his death?
- BN knows that their popularity is dwindling. MACC surely wont gain from this, neither would BN.
Would MACC benefit at all by killing him IN THEIR OWN BUILDING??
- If teoh was a witness then who is the suspect?
You see, Teoh was there to give evidence against some top DAP officials. As we know some of them are klinked to the underworld. And we all know the triad code among the chinese (You talk, you die) .
And that is what Teoh did - TALK.
He decided to come clean and tell it all. And he knows that after this, his life , his family and his soon to be wife will be in danger.
He knows how the chinese triads operate.
He decided to not die in their hands but rather, he chose what he deemed was a more dignified way to go.
Question again - who really benefits from his death? Najib? MACC?
....or the triad king pins of DAP he was about to implicate?
We all know about the gangsters in DAP.. just ask Wee Choo Keong.
Underground Journo - NICE TRY BUT YOU GET ONLY AN 'F' FOR YOUR CLUMSY ATTEMPT AT SPIN ;-) Gangsters in DAP? Ha ha. Probably a few, gangsters everywhere, especially in the highest offices... but the biggest bunch of gangsters of all is Umno/BN. Look at S. Vellu & OTK - typical Bollywood Big Bossman & White Collar Triad King!
ReplyDeleteCan we once and for all put to bed this matter of a DAP politician being linked to the underworld? Wee Choo Keong appears to have the knowledge. I suggest he goes to the MB of Selangor with the evidence he has. Failing this he should retract his allegations, apologise and shut his gob.
ReplyDeleteAntares,
ReplyDeleteI spoke on facts that are to our knowledge. You chose to go around in circles that led nowhere.
Also failed to answer my question which posted twice in that comment;
"Who stands to gain from Teoh's death?"
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteUnderground journo, you wouldn't have a clue as to what true journalism is even if it jumped up and bit you in the ass.
ReplyDeleteThis is not the first time someone has died in police custody. And the MACC technically isn't even the police though they have evidently tried to use those tactics.
Why don't you, in the same vein ask, "Who stands to gain from Altantuya's death?" or "Who stands to gain from Kuhan's death?"
Those kind of questions remain open-ended and are hardly basis for any conclusion.
To all the smart alexs who seem to know more than mere mortals , may we suggest you do the honorable instead of hiding in Blogger cyberspace ( probably in your air cond armchair ) spitting clever comments to ask people to do this to do that, why not you yourself step forward and just do it ?
ReplyDeleteGo and help your own MALAYSIA to get rid of evil murderers. Come up with money and your sweat
Let's see how many things smell funny:
ReplyDelete1. Witness is questioned till almost 4am
2. Witness released at 4am, prefers the couch in MACC even though his car is there and he is getting married in a day
3. MACC lets people nap in their office, and can just wander around the office till 6am
And commentator Undergroud Journon thinks that MACC office is penetrated/trespassed with Triads who may have killed Teoh so that DAP is protected
Condolences to Teoh's family, fiancee and friends.
Condolences to Malaysia, too, for the lack of morality in our govt, its agencies and the BN politicians who cannot question this senseless murder.
I still have not received an answer for my question.
ReplyDeleteNow listen, and focus.. i will say it real slow. Plus, since you all seem to love drifting away into oblivion, i will give you multiple choice to choose from;
Question : WHO STANDS TO GAIN FROM TEOH'S DEATH?
(a) Najib
(b) MACC
(c) Barisan Nasional
(d) The suspects in the case he was a witness to
PS - i asked a straight forward question, but somehow all the response i received were about :
Samy vellu la , OKT la, Altantuya la, kugan la... come on guys, focus.
Something is cooking alright - I can smell the stench.
ReplyDeleteTrying to get into bed with PAS while demonising the DAP. Harping in the mass media that it's MUSLIM Uigurs against Han Chinese.
Same old racist games all over again.
Underground journo - You get a B+ for perseverance. All right, you keep asking: WHO BENEFITS FROM TEOH'S DEATH? That implies his death was intentional, that he was murdered. I decided, after reading RPK's take on the scenario, that his reconstruction makes the most sense. In effect, Teoh's death was unintentional, purely accidental, a simple and tragic twist of fate, wherein his pants tore while he was being dangled from the MACC office window to scare him into signing a false declaration against his boss Ean Yong and other DAP leaders. With this forced confession MACC could then create shockwaves about how DAP & PKR are every bit as dirty as Umno/BN... so why not go back to the Devil You Know? Well... Teoh's death benefits nobody, least of all the political players - but the traumatic effect it has had on all of us might just be the last straw we needed to convince fence-sitters that Najib is one big Nasty No-No (& a nonok-whipped wuss to boot).,, and that would benefit the entire country!
ReplyDeleteOK, so according to that theory, one of the tactics used by MACC is to dangle a person out from the 14th storey in clear view of the public from the busy roads down below, or adjacent buildings. Oh im sure they stuffed his mouth with char siew pau so he wont scream to attract attention too huh? .. uhmmm hoookaayyy..
ReplyDeleteAnd this tactic of dangling someone out of the window is so efficient in sharing the shit out of him that he wont turn around later and challenge his declaration as one under extreme duress and coersion.. rigghhtttttttt... what ever u say dude.
sorry, i meant ;
ReplyDelete*"...scaring the shit out of him..."
Modern buildings are designed so that it is virtually impossible to accidentally fall from one. A person must deliberately jump - or be thrown / dropped.
ReplyDeleteAnd we know that Teoh Beng Hock DID NOT commit suicide.
MACC killed Teoh Beng Hock - whether directly or indirectly; the problem is proving it, especially since the MACC and police are already busy tampering with the evidence even as their superiors declare the 'all clear'.
The MSM are as usual spinning the story as fast as their little doggy legs will allow them to, and their cybertroopers desperately try to stem the eruption of rage across the Malaysian cyberspace.
I am sorry for Teoh's family. This man had a bright future ahead of him. how did his life ended abruptly? its very sad.
ReplyDeleteTo mr and mrs teoh, i will pray for your son's soul to rest in peace.
antares, thanks for sharing.
If what RPK has written is true, then is Teoh's death a pure accident or a torture that has run foul?
ReplyDeleteIf the torturers want to really put fear of death into Teoh like water-boarding of Quantanamo Bay, they would have dangled him far enough out of the window so as to instill fear but not too far out that he would plunge to his death. The intention is not to kill or to murder but to strike fear.
However,if safety precautions have been taken, even if Teoh struggled, he would have dropped back into the building floor and not the balcony floor outside.
Also,if the victim panicks and struggles and plunges to his death, does this mean that the torturers are not responsible?
If they stop and think that death is forseeable, then they are culpable or responsible. The more forseeable it is, the more culpable they are. The degree of responsibility depends on the degree of forseeability as based on legal principles.
Torture is torture, whatever miscalculation it is.Torture is unreliable, ineffective and barbaric by any standards, ancient or modern. It does not matter who benefits. There is no pure accident. By the existing procedures of interrogation, death is inevitable so long there is a green light for torture. It is a question of how many.
antares,
ReplyDeleteobserve the torn pants closely. its consistent with RPK's take.
its an interrogration that went wrong. but it is still murder.
guys, remember how MACC was used to charge two Aduns who subsequently turned around to support BN. Who was the Head of UMNO Perak that plotted the coup? Now, he is the same person that heads UMNO Selangor. He is using the same tactics to use MACC to destabilise a legitimately elected govt.
Teoh is mere collateral damage in the political game. its real scary with the MACC. Police and Judiciary united behind him in destroying the opposition. Nothing is going to stop him;not laws, not public opinion but only GOD's intervention. Pray hard guys.
A promising young man with so much and so many waiting for him, cruelly plucked out of this world by those who have no heart or conscience.
ReplyDeleteOne wonders how low they can go.
If this not wake make Malaysians stand up together against all the balderdash that we are hearing from all quarters, then there is little hope for this nation.
How many deaths do we need to witness before Malaysians have the courage to do what they need to do without being distracted by this or that?
The answer lies within each Malaysian who has a heart and a conscience.
The rest of us will have to do our very best to stir them aflame...
it would have been heavenly fine IF
ReplyDeletethe.... the 'torturers' were dragged down bersama2 !!
antares ,you telling me that dap has no connections to the triads.i am actually laughing out loud when i read this the first time.i guess this is what they called blind loyalty.
ReplyDeletep.s you can't blind the eyes of an old klang road boy,no sir!.i guess people from taman seputeh are laughing too.
A nation state means the existence of acccountable governmental institutions. When alternative structures and laws(like ISA) are set up to bypass acountability and put the state into the pockets of a few, does Malaysia still exist as a nation state?
ReplyDeleteWhat has Abdullah Badawi done? This MACC is a million times more of a monster out of control compared to ACA!!!
ReplyDeleteabdullah badawi , where are you hiding NOW ?
ReplyDeletewhy are you guys blaming badawi now? the formation of MACC was supported by government and the opposition.
ReplyDeleteblame the puppeteer not the puppet.
MACC plays with fire so it will be on fire . They think they are at liberty to do whant they wanted without due care to human life. I hope the RCI will dig out all the evil deeds of this criminals. They must be brought to justice including those that order
ReplyDeletethem to play dirty.
SPLLATTTT!
ReplyDeleteLOL!
the zzzz badawi din 'instruct & teach' his macc staff to do their job
ReplyDeleteb4 he was ousted ....SO he should be blamed ...@#$%^&* !!
badawi, where are you NOW ?
ReplyDelete
