IMAN MALEKI: LET'S BE REALISTIC

THE PHOTOREALISM OF IMAN MALEKI: 
Born in 1976 in Teheran. Studied with Morteza Katouzian at age 15, had many successful showings of his paintings. Widely acclaimed today as the greatest realist painter in Iran.

    The artist himself is so handsome *grins*.

    Whilst the art is astoundingly realistic,there is such an air of pensive sadness about each painting.

    I wonder why he does not feature eye contact for most of his subjects...There is a repressed kind of melancholy here...

    His style reminds me of the era of the great Italian artists like Caravaggio...

  4. The 9th painting took my breath away. The transformation between the faces, the increasing influx of grief, longing dismay between the faces is just too much. What a profound display of artistic expression...!
